The Opportunity

Montgomery College seeks an experienced ELAP instructor to teach English language courses designed to prepare diverse learners for academic success. As a part-time faculty member, you'll work with students from various linguistic backgrounds, helping them develop the English proficiency needed to succeed in credit-level coursework and beyond. Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Teach English language for academic purposes courses, focusing on reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills
• Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with course objectives and student learning outcomes
• Assess student performance through quizzes, essays, presentations, and other appropriate measures
• Provide constructive feedback on student work and track progress toward proficiency goals
• Grade assignments, exams, and projects in a timely manner
• Hold office hours and meet with students to discuss academic progress and course content
• Participate in department meetings and collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress

Skills & Qualifications

• Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English as a Second Language (ESL), or a closely related field
• Demonstrated experience teaching English language learners at the college level or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of English grammar, composition, and academic writing conventions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to create inclusive, supportive learning environments for diverse students
• Proficiency with learning management systems and educational technology
