About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential national nonprofit organization in their search for volunteers to serve on their Nominating Committee. This is a meaningful governance role for individuals passionate about volunteer leadership development and organizational stewardship.

The Nominating Committee is responsible for identifying, vetting, and nominating qualified volunteers for elected positions within the organization's governance structure. This is a three-year volunteer commitment with the possibility of renewal for one additional term.

Responsibilities

• Publicize volunteer committee openings and leadership opportunities across the organization
• Conduct interviews with potential volunteer candidates for various governance roles
• Perform thorough reference checks and candidate assessments
• Maintain regular communication with committee chairs regarding openings and candidate pipelines
• Collaborate with the Board and Appointments Committee on governance needs
• Participate in extensive candidate discussions, recruiting activities, and selection processes

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated ability to give and receive constructive feedback with openness and minimal defensiveness
• Strong interpersonal skills with capacity to work sensitively and cooperatively with diverse stakeholders
• Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding personal conversations and candidate assessments
• Deep understanding of nonprofit governance structures and current organizational challenges
• Previous experience serving on selection or nominating committees, whether at the local, regional, or national level
• Commitment to equity and inclusive leadership practices
• Located in the United States

Time Commitment

This volunteer role requires:

• One in-person 2-3 day meeting annually
• One meeting during the organization's annual General Assembly
• Several videoconference meetings throughout the year
• Significant time between meetings for candidate discussions, recruiting outreach, reference checks, and interviews
