Gray Media is hiring a full-time News Reporter and Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) in Flint, Genesee County, Michigan to join our newsroom and deliver essential local news to our community.
About the Role
As a News Reporter and Multimedia Journalist, you'll be responsible for researching, developing, and delivering compelling local news stories across broadcast and digital platforms. You'll work in a collaborative newsroom environment, reporting on issues that directly impact Flint residents and the greater Genesee County area.
What You'll Do
- Identify and investigate newsworthy stories that matter to the Flint community
- Conduct interviews and gather information from sources, events, and the field
- Write, shoot, and edit news packages for television broadcast and online delivery
- Report live during breaking news events and scheduled newscasts
- Contribute to digital and social media news initiatives
- Meet daily editorial deadlines while maintaining journalistic accuracy and integrity
- Coordinate with producers, photographers, and assignment editors to execute coverage plans
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field, or equivalent professional news reporting experience
- Proven experience as a broadcast reporter or multimedia journalist
- Proficiency with broadcast editing software and journalism equipment
- Excellent writing, interviewing, and on-camera presence skills
- Ability to thrive under deadline pressure and adapt to breaking news situations
- Strong commitment to accurate, fair, and ethical journalism
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
