Mechanical Drafter

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential engineering organization seeking a Mechanical Drafter to join their remote team in the Philippines. This is a full-time position working from home with set hours aligned to Australian Eastern Daylight Time (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM AEDT | 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM PHT).

This role offers genuine involvement in product development from concept through production, supporting mechanical design and drafting work for specialized equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed drafting of mechanical components and assemblies via Windows Remote Desktop session
• Generate, update, and maintain DraftSight 2D files and SolidWorks models, assemblies, parts, and drawings accessed through company systems via Remote Desktop and VPN
• Support mechanical system design and development including pumps, hydraulic flow systems, piping, and structural elements with remote team collaboration
• Perform testing simulations and troubleshooting of designs using virtual tools and provided data
• Prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) and MRP-related documents
• Specify equipment and materials to meet project requirements
• Design mechanical components and systems independently
• Prepare complete drawing packs for review and approval
• Coordinate integration of mechanical designs with electrical systems through remote collaboration
• Produce and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings to Australian standards using SolidWorks and DraftSight
• Provide material selection input and contribute to cost control on assigned projects
• Support product transition into production through detailed documentation and remote guidance
• Participate in virtual design reviews
• Manage workflow across time zones with timely communication and clear documentation

What We're Looking For

• Proven ability to produce drawings, models, and documentation on time while working across time zones
• Strong knowledge of Australian drafting standards with ability to produce fully compliant drawings and models
• Accuracy in preparing BOMs with zero-error expectation for production impact
• Track record of delivering drawing packs and design documentation on schedule
• High-quality output requiring minimal revisions from remote reviews
• Effective remote troubleshooting skills with clear communication of design resolutions
• Professional and timely communication with all stakeholders
• Consistent adherence to deadlines despite remote work and VPN-based access
• Stable experience using Windows Remote Desktop and VPN connections to access company systems and PDM
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and DraftSight
• Self-management skills and ability to work independently
