Managing Director (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential management consulting organization in Köln that is entering an exciting growth phase. This Managing Director role combines strategic leadership with hands-on business development as you shape the future of an established institute specializing in talent assessment, leadership development, and organizational transformation.

In this position, you will:

• Assume full strategic, operational, and financial responsibility for the institute, reporting directly to the CEO
• Lead and develop a team of consultants, trainers, and coaches, fostering a culture of trust, autonomy, and constructive collaboration
• Strengthen existing client relationships while acquiring new customers and identifying growth opportunities
• Evolve the service portfolio strategically, driving innovation in new business areas and sustainable business models
• Contribute your expertise to selected projects and strategically important client engagements
• Strengthen market positioning and serve as a key liaison across organizational units
• Expand digital and hybrid service offerings to create scalable solutions

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks a proven entrepreneurial leader who can balance strategic vision with pragmatic execution:

• Extensive leadership and management experience with responsibility for teams, business units, or comparable organizational divisions
• Strong business acumen with deep market and customer understanding
• Background in management or organizational consulting, ideally in leadership development, transformation, change management, talent assessment, or people development
• Demonstrated experience leading or operationally managing comparable consulting projects
• Track record in expanding client relationships, developing new business opportunities, and evolving products and service lines
• Excellent communication and storytelling abilities with the presence to engage diverse stakeholders and inspire others around your vision
• Understanding of digital business models, hybrid service delivery, and scalable professional services
• Comfort operating in dynamic, high-growth environments with strong self-motivation and organizational skills
• Willingness to travel for client meetings and projects, combining remote and on-site work
• Completed university degree (Diplom or Master) in Business Administration, Economics, Psychology, or comparable field
