Machinist

Weir is hiring a full-time Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Surrey. This is a hands-on role for an experienced machining professional ready to deliver precision components for global industrial applications.

Role Overview

As a Machinist at Weir's Surrey facility, you will operate, set up, and maintain advanced machine tools to manufacture critical engineering components. Working from technical drawings and specifications, you'll produce parts that meet exacting tolerances whilst maintaining strict safety and quality standards. This role combines traditional machining craftsmanship with modern production techniques in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Your Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines and conventional machine tools to specifications
• Interpret technical blueprints and drawings to plan production sequences accurately
• Perform precision measurements using calibrated instruments and quality-control equipment
• Produce components meeting required tolerances and finish standards
• Conduct regular machine maintenance and report equipment issues
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures on the production floor
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain continuous workflow and production targets

What We're Looking For

• Formal apprenticeship, technical qualification, or proven machining experience
• Competence reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
• Hands-on experience with CNC machines, manual machines, or both
• Proficiency using precision measurement tools and inspection techniques
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to workplace protocols
