Join the City of St Marys as a Lifeguard at the St. Marys Aquatic Center in Saint Marys, Camden County. This is a full-time position dedicated to protecting swimmers and ensuring a safe, enjoyable experience for all aquatic center guests.

About This Position

As a Lifeguard with the City of St Marys, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a safe aquatic environment. Your primary responsibility is safeguarding the wellbeing of swimmers at our facility. We provide Red Cross Lifeguard Certification training complimentary to qualified candidates, so prior certification is not required to start. You'll work in a dynamic, community-focused setting where your alertness and quick thinking directly impact the safety of swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Monitor swimmers and aquatic areas continuously to identify and respond to hazards or distress situations
• Enforce facility rules and safety policies to maintain order and prevent injuries
• Perform water rescues and provide first aid or CPR when needed
• Maintain clear visual surveillance of assigned zones throughout your shift
• Assist with facility cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and setup tasks as needed
• Communicate effectively with patrons, staff, and emergency responders

What You Bring

• Minimum age: 16 years old (you may take the swimming requirements test at 15)
• Strong swimming ability and water competency
• Ability to stay alert and attentive for extended periods
• Willingness to complete Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (training provided complimentary)
• Excellent communication and decision-making skills
• A commitment to swimmer safety and customer service
• Physical fitness and ability to respond quickly in emergencies
