AT&T is hiring a Lead Member of Technical Staff – AI Systems Engineer to join our Residential Gateway Operations Engineering team in Queensborough, Snohomish County. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring a minimum of five days per week in the office.
About the Role
We're building the next generation of AI-driven systems to enhance how we operate and maintain residential gateway infrastructure at scale. In this leadership role, you'll design, architect, and deploy machine learning solutions that drive operational intelligence, reduce downtime, and optimize network performance across millions of devices.
What You'll Do
- Architect and lead development of AI/ML systems that predict equipment failures, optimize performance metrics, and automate operational workflows
- Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate AI models into production operational platforms
- Define technical strategy, establish best practices, and mentor engineers on AI systems architecture and implementation
- Evaluate and deploy machine learning frameworks, data pipelines, and inference engines suited for high-volume gateway telemetry
- Drive continuous improvement through testing, monitoring, and iteration on model performance and system reliability
- Collaborate with data science and infrastructure teams to ensure AI systems scale reliably in production
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience designing and deploying production AI/ML systems, ideally in network operations, telecommunications, or IoT environments
- Deep expertise in machine learning frameworks, model training, and inference optimization
- Strong foundation in systems engineering, software architecture, and distributed systems
- Experience with data pipelines, real-time processing, and handling large-scale telemetry
- Leadership experience guiding technical teams through complex AI projects
- Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, or similar languages; familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
