We're expanding broadband infrastructure across the Pacific Northwest, and we need skilled technicians to install, test, and maintain fiber optic networks that connect communities in University Place and Pierce County to reliable, high-speed internet.

About the Role

As a Fiber Technician I, you'll be the hands-on expert responsible for deploying fiber infrastructure in the field. This is a full-time position where you'll work directly with cables, splicing equipment, and network testing tools to ensure reliable fiber connections from the ground up.

What You'll Do

  • Install fiber optic cable in underground conduits, aerial spans, and within buildings
  • Splice, terminate, and polish fiber connections to precise specifications
  • Test fiber optic lines using specialized equipment to verify signal quality and performance
  • Troubleshoot network issues and coordinate with engineering teams on complex installations
  • Follow safety protocols and adhere to industry standards for fiber optic work
  • Document installations, test results, and maintenance activities accurately
  • Work in various weather conditions and terrain across Pierce County and surrounding areas

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical training or certification in fiber optics (preferred)
  • Ability to work safely at heights and in confined spaces
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel within the service area and work flexible schedules as needed
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and perform demanding field work
