AI Research Scientist (Government)

AT&T is seeking an experienced AI Research Scientist to join our government-focused team in Chantilly, Fairfax County. In this full-time position, you'll drive the development and advancement of artificial intelligence solutions supporting federal government operations and innovation.

About the Role

As an AI Research Scientist with AT&T Global Public Sector, you'll contribute to cutting-edge research and engineering initiatives that power secure, intelligent systems for the federal government. This role requires your full-time, onsite presence in our Chantilly office, where you'll collaborate with a skilled team dedicated to delivering dependable technology solutions to critical government missions.

What You'll Do

• Conduct research and develop novel AI and machine learning algorithms to address complex government challenges
• Design, prototype, and evaluate machine learning models for government-scale applications
• Collaborate across technical teams to translate research findings into production systems
• Analyze data and develop methodologies to improve artificial intelligence system performance and reliability
• Document research findings and technical solutions to contribute to team knowledge and government stakeholder reporting
• Work within security and compliance frameworks required for federal government technology projects

What We're Looking For

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related field
• Strong foundation in machine learning, deep learning, and statistical analysis
• Proven experience designing and implementing AI systems or conducting research in machine learning
• Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar AI development frameworks
• Ability to work with complex, large-scale datasets and distributed systems
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and cloud-based computing environments
• Top Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one (preferred)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and cross-team collaboration
• Commitment to working onsite full-time in Chantilly, Fairfax County
