Mission Hospital is seeking a compassionate, clinically skilled Registered Nurse to join our Labor and Delivery antepartum team in Morganton, Burke County. In this part-time position, you'll provide direct maternal-fetal care and support to expectant families during one of life's most significant journeys.
About the Role
The antepartum unit is the heart of our maternal-fetal program, where experienced nurses monitor and care for pregnant patients throughout their third trimester and leading up to delivery. This role offers the opportunity to work at the bedside, using modern clinical technology to enhance your efficiency and allow more time for meaningful patient interaction. You'll join a team that prioritizes both maternal safety and family-centered maternity care.
What You'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments and ongoing monitoring of expectant mothers and their developing babies
- Perform and interpret electronic fetal monitoring, recognizing normal and abnormal patterns
- Administer medications and manage common complications of pregnancy under provider direction
- Educate patients and families about pregnancy progression, labor preparation, and postpartum expectations
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and ancillary staff to coordinate safe, effective care
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of clinical findings, interventions, and patient responses
- Respond swiftly to changes in maternal or fetal status and escalate concerns appropriately
- Support patients through labor preparation classes and evidence-based coping strategies
What We're Looking For
- Active RN licensure in North Carolina
- Experience in obstetrics, maternal-fetal nursing, women's health, or acute care settings
- Proficiency with electronic fetal monitoring systems and clinical documentation software
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to recognize subtle changes in maternal-fetal status
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for patient education and team collaboration
- Genuine compassion for families and commitment to patient-centered, family-focused care
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment
