About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential language services organization seeking Korean-English interpreters to join their remote workforce in Japan. This is a freelance contractor opportunity for skilled linguists who excel at real-time interpretation and are looking for location-independent work.
Responsibilities
- Handle interpretation calls professionally while adhering to established interpretation protocols and codes of conduct
- Render accurate concepts and meanings between Korean and English, avoiding omissions or additions
- Maintain excellent listening, retention, and note-taking practices to ensure accuracy
- Explain cultural concepts when appropriate to prevent miscommunication, with client permission
- Develop familiarity with industry-specific vocabulary, particularly in healthcare and medical contexts
- Complete internal professional training programs
- Communicate regularly with your team leader and provide status updates
What We're Looking For
- Native or fluent proficiency in both Korean and English (90% English proficiency required)
- Minimum 6 months of interpretation experience preferred
- Strong analytical skills to quickly understand and convey complex concepts
- Professional demeanor and commitment to confidentiality
- Technical setup: Windows 10 or Mac computer, steady wired internet connection, USB wired headset
- Based in Japan and available to work as an independent contractor
- Ability to pass language testing and background check (based on location requirements)
Employment Details
This is a full-time freelance contractor position working fully remotely from your home office. Immediate availability after onboarding is preferred. Compensation is calculated on a per-minute basis with monthly payments.
