Inpatient Consultant

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential healthcare technology organization seeking an experienced Inpatient Consultant to join their clinical solutions division. This remote position offers the opportunity to work with diverse healthcare systems across the United States, applying your coding and clinical documentation expertise to drive quality improvements in inpatient settings.

Responsibilities

• Validate and apply software modules relating to medical coding and provide comprehensive training to client organizations
• Collaborate with coding and clinical team members on content creation and knowledge transfer initiatives
• Present clinical and coding concepts to hospitals and healthcare organizations, implementing Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) programs across multiple facilities
• Lead audit tasks covering medical record coding, clinical documentation, compliance reviews, and DRG assignment validation
• Support corporate programs and initiatives while maintaining professional quality and security standards
• Travel up to 50% domestically and potentially internationally to support client engagements

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with seven years of experience as a coding professional or in acute care clinical settings, OR high school diploma/GED with eleven years of clinical or coding experience
• RHIT/RHIA with CCS certification plus five years of inpatient coding experience and five years of CDI experience, OR valid RN license with five years acute care experience and recognized CDI credential (CCDS from ACDIS or CDIP from AHIMA) with five years inpatient CDI experience
• Ability to travel up to 50% for client engagements
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or related healthcare clinical field
• Experience working remotely and proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, analytical, and organizational abilities

Additional Requirements:

• May be required to meet healthcare facility entry prerequisites including specific licenses, vaccinations, or credentials as determined by client sites
