Independent Living Skills Trainer

Vibrant Works is hiring an Independent Living Skills Trainer to join our team at Fort Sam Houston, Bexar County. This is a full-time position dedicated to empowering individuals who are blind or visually impaired and their families with practical skills for independence and daily success.

About the Role

As an Independent Living Skills Trainer, you'll deliver hands-on instruction and support to adults navigating life with vision loss. You'll help people develop confidence and capability across the domains of daily living—from managing a household and personal care routines to building effective communication strategies. Your work extends beyond one-on-one training: you'll connect clients with community resources, facilitate group learning experiences, and serve as a bridge between individuals who are blind or visually impaired and the support systems available to them.

What You'll Do

• Deliver customized training in household management and daily living skills for individuals with visual impairment
• Coach clients and their caregivers in personal care routines and independence strategies
• Teach practical communication techniques tailored to each person's needs and goals
• Connect clients with community resources and support services
• Plan and facilitate group activities and learning sessions
• Engage with the broader community through outreach and education

What We're Looking For

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to teach practical skills with patience and cultural sensitivity
• Experience working with adults with disabilities, vision loss, or chronic health conditions preferred
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently or as part of a team
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
