About the Role

As an Income Tax Audit Supervisor with the State of South Carolina, you will guide a team of auditors responsible for reviewing individual and business income tax filings for accuracy and compliance with state law. This on-site position in Dutch Fork, Richland County, combines hands-on technical tax expertise with people leadership, helping ensure that the revenue funding South Carolina's communities is collected fairly and correctly.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of income tax auditors, setting priorities and reviewing completed work for quality.
• Oversee the examination of income tax returns and supporting records to identify discrepancies and compliance issues.
• Interpret and apply state tax statutes, regulations, and audit procedures to complex cases.
• Review audit findings, adjustments, and assessments before they are finalized.
• Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to support auditor development.
• Coordinate caseloads, monitor deadlines, and report on team progress to department leadership.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of income tax law, auditing standards, and accounting principles.
• Prior experience in tax audit, examination, or a closely related compliance field.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory ability, with skill in directing and developing a team.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Dutch Fork, Richland County, in a full-time capacity.
