About this role & career path

This track is mid-to-senior faculty work in public affairs / government education—balancing instruction, mentoring, and institutional service rather than a corporate ladder. Growth usually means deeper program leadership, research or practice impact, and stronger teaching portfolio, not a single linear promotion path outside academia.

Be ready to discuss teaching philosophy for undergrad vs. graduate government students, sample syllabi, and how you handle advising load. Prepare examples of curriculum design, assessment, and collegial service. Expect questions on fit with a conservative evangelical Christian campus culture and mission alignment, plus research or professional practice you would bring to Helms School of Government.

Strong fit if you want residential faculty work at a large Christian university in Lynchburg and can teach across graduate and undergraduate government programs. Less ideal if you need remote work (listing is not remote) or a secular institutional setting.
