Alpaca, a self-clearing broker-dealer operating globally with over 9 million brokerage accounts, seeks a full-time IT Operations Specialist to support our fully remote team across North America. With 3+ years of IT operations experience and expertise in multi-platform system administration, you'll join a 380+ person distributed organization and report directly to our IT Support Lead.

About This Position

As our IT Operations Specialist, you'll be the central technical resource for Alpaca's globally distributed team spanning the USA, Canada, Japan, Hungary, Nigeria, Brazil, the UK, and beyond. Operating fully remotely, you'll manage all aspects of technical support, device lifecycle, and security operations—partnering with our Security and HR teams to enable smooth onboarding, seamless employee experiences, and robust infrastructure protection for a mission-driven fintech organization.

Core Duties

  • Respond to and resolve IT helpdesk requests from team members worldwide
  • Provide hands-on support for Linux, macOS, and Windows systems—troubleshooting, patching, and optimization
  • Deploy and configure laptops, devices, software, and hardware for onboarding and offboarding
  • Manage mobile device management (MDM) systems and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) programs
  • Maintain inventory and security posture of all IT assets across the organization
  • Build and maintain automation workflows, SSO configurations, and scalable provisioning processes
  • Coordinate onboarding, identity management, and offboarding with HR and Security teams
  • Train staff on IT tools, policies, and best practices
  • Support change management and hardware procurement workflows
  • Participate in on-call rotations for incident response and after-hours support

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years in IT support, helpdesk, or systems administration roles
  • Advanced system administration experience with Linux, macOS, and Windows
  • Strong scripting and automation skills with drive to eliminate manual processes
  • Proven experience managing enterprise SaaS platforms and cloud environments
  • Understanding of cloud security principles and cybersecurity best practices
  • Experience with on-premises networking (LAN/WAN) infrastructure
  • Hands-on SSO and identity management configuration expertise
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
  • Fluent English communication (written and verbal)
  • Availability to cover Mountain or Pacific time zones
  • Readiness for on-call responsibilities
  • Self-motivated, proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement
