In this full-time position, you'll evaluate, investigate, and resolve claims involving heavy equipment, cargo damage, property damage, and bodily injury across both litigated and non-litigated cases.

About the Role

As a Heavy Equipment & Cargo Claims Examiner in our Omaha, Douglas County office, you'll become an expert in assessing claims that require specialized knowledge of commercial vehicles, cargo operations, and equipment-related exposures. You'll take ownership of case files from initial report through resolution, applying keen analytical skills and industry knowledge to fair and thorough claim evaluation.

What You'll Do

• Investigate and evaluate commercial auto claims involving heavy equipment and cargo loss or damage
• Review policy documents and determine coverage applicability for complex claim scenarios
• Assess property damage, coordinate with contractors and third-party assessors, and manage damage valuations
• Manage bodily injury claims, including medical review, liability analysis, and reserve recommendations
• Handle both litigation and non-litigation claims, including communication with legal counsel when appropriate
• Gather evidence, conduct claimant and witness interviews, and document all findings thoroughly
• Develop settlement strategies and negotiate claim resolution in accordance with company guidelines
• Maintain detailed, compliant case notes and meet all regulatory and company documentation standards

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a claims examiner, adjuster, or equivalent claims handling role
• Deep knowledge of commercial auto insurance, heavy equipment coverages, and cargo claims
• Strong investigative and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for working with diverse stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple claims simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure
• Familiarity with claims management systems and standard office software
• Knowledge of state insurance regulations and claims handling compliance requirements
• Sound judgment, integrity, and commitment to fair and ethical claim resolution
