We are representing a fast-growing technology company in the industrial procurement space, currently in an exciting early scaling phase. Our client is building AI-powered solutions that are transforming how technical components are sourced and purchased. As they continue their growth trajectory, they need a strategic finance leader to build the financial infrastructure that will support their next chapter.

This Head of Finance role is based in Deggendorf, Germany, and offers the unique opportunity to establish finance operations from the ground up in a dynamic SaaS environment. You'll work directly with executive leadership and investors, combining hands-on execution with strategic thinking to create scalable financial processes and systems.

Responsibilities

You will own both the operational and strategic finance function, building the foundation for sustainable growth:

• Design and implement professional reporting frameworks for executive leadership and investors, establishing transparent financial visibility across the organization
• Build a comprehensive controlling system tracking key SaaS metrics including CAC, LTV, churn, ARR, MRR, and unit economics
• Monitor business performance, identify opportunities early, and deliver actionable recommendations including optimization of the revenue engine (sales targets, quotas, commission structures)
• Analyze customer relationships and margin profiles, supporting contract negotiations and pricing decisions
• Create detailed budgets and business plans that reflect growth ambitions and operational realities
• Own rolling forecasts and ensure robust liquidity planning to support business continuity
• Develop planning scenarios that enable data-driven strategic decision-making
• Actively monitor and control budget adherence across departments
• Build scalable business and finance processes that integrate seamlessly as the company grows
• Implement and optimize finance tools and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy
• Ensure clean, efficient accounting integration and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings under German HGB standards in collaboration with tax advisors
• Manage relationships with investors, auditors, and tax consultants as a peer and trusted advisor
• Serve as strategic sparring partner to executive leadership on financial matters
• Prepare the organization for future financing rounds or exit processes
• Build and lead a finance team as the company scales
• Collaborate cross-functionally to establish a data-driven company culture

What We're Looking For

Essential qualifications:

• Completed degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Controlling
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in finance with initial leadership experience, ideally in technology, SaaS, or scale-up environments
• Proven track record of building reporting systems and finance processes from scratch
• Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Proficiency with relevant tools ranging from Excel/Google Sheets and Power BI to accounting software
• Hands-on approach with willingness to engage in operational work
• Analytical mindset with ability to translate numbers into understandable, decision-relevant insights
• Fluency in German is required for this role given the location and regulatory environment

Valuable additional experience:

• Experience with financing rounds and investor relations
• Knowledge of grant and subsidy acquisition processes
• Track record implementing finance systems and platforms
• Legal knowledge in corporate governance, company law, and contract law
