Group Cost Controller

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential defense technology organization in Paris that is experiencing rapid growth and expansion. Our talent team is seeking a Group Cost Controller to take ownership of industrial, R&D, and operational costing across multiple entities. This is a hands-on role that combines analytical execution with strategic framework development, working closely with senior finance leadership to build and continuously improve cost performance monitoring and decision-support capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Build the industrial P&L and establish the complete costing framework from the ground up, defining standard cost calculation methodology and performance tracking processes
• Monitor and challenge production and inventory performance, tracking production costs, inventory levels, and variances while identifying deviations and partnering with operations to address them
• Own and execute industrial management cycles including monthly closings, business reviews, forecasts, and budgets for the industrial scope
• Contribute to ERP implementation efforts, collaborating with production and supply chain teams to ensure reliable inventory tracking and meaningful business outputs
• Drive cost visibility and optimization initiatives across R&D, project costs, and other operating expenses beyond the production floor

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field preferred
• 5–8 years of experience in cost or industrial controlling within a manufacturing or complex production environment
• Expert-level Excel skills and strong financial modelling capabilities, with hands-on ERP experience
• Deep familiarity with BOMs, standard costs, and variance analysis methodologies
• Proven track record of building a controlling framework from scratch rather than inheriting established systems
• Autonomous, structured, and comfortable operating in fast-moving environments where solutions must be created
• Strong business partnering skills with the ability to engage effectively with operations, engineering, and procurement teams
• Fluent in both French and English
