About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential PropTech client building cutting-edge AI products for content generation at scale. They've recently shipped an ambitious generative media platform that produces branded social content—Instagram carousels and reels—entirely through AI-driven pipelines. From concept to final render, LLMs handle design decisions, voiceover scripting, photo selection, and video composition.

As the Generative Media Engineer on their AI Social team, you'll own the render pipeline, the prompts and agent loops that drive it, and the visual quality of everything that ships. This role sits at the unusual intersection of engineering, design, AI systems, and social media. You won't fit a traditional engineering mold—that's exactly the point.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the generative media render pipeline from raw data inputs to finished social posts
  • Design and refine LLM prompts, structured outputs, tool-calling sequences, and multi-step agent loops
  • Partner with product, design, and content strategy teams to translate creative direction into production systems
  • Build reusable template families and systems that scale across thousands of customers rather than bespoke one-off solutions
  • Evaluate and maintain visual quality standards for AI-generated images, video, voice, and music
  • Integrate image and video generation APIs, voice synthesis tools, composite rendering engines, and headless browser workflows
  • Balance exploratory proof-of-concept work with production-ready polish, knowing when each mode is appropriate
  • Experiment with emerging AI tools and techniques, sharing insights and pushing the boundaries of what's possible

What We're Looking For

Core Technical Skills:

  • Solid working knowledge of TypeScript and Node.js with demonstrated ability to ship production code
  • Hands-on experience building LLM-driven systems including prompts, structured outputs, tool-calling, agent loops, and evaluations
  • At least one shipped piece of generative media (image, video, voice, or music) that others have actually used
  • Portfolio or body of work demonstrating both technical depth and design sensibility
  • Formal or self-taught grounding in design, visual art, film, or motion

AI Development Fluency:

  • Already using Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI-assisted development tools in daily workflows
  • Familiarity with MCPs and how tools like Figma, Notion, and Linear connect into AI-assisted development
  • Active experimenter who tries new prompts, pushes limits, and has opinions about where AI tooling is headed

Mindset and Working Style:

  • Tinkerer mentality—you spot leverage points and build what's truly needed, not just what's asked
  • Systems thinker who prioritizes scalable solutions over one-off implementations
  • Strong convictions about quality balanced with pragmatic shipping instincts
  • Excellent collaborator with non-engineers; patient and clear when working across product, design, and content strategy
  • High ownership, low ego—you take strategic direction while raising the bar on craft
  • Comfortable operating in shared systems where constraints become leverage rather than obstacles

Bonus Points:

  • Active creator practice—a feed, portfolio, YouTube channel, Are.na board, or side project under your own name that shows you understand the medium from the inside

Tech Stack Context:

  • Platform: Node, TypeScript, React, Postgres, AWS, Temporal
  • AI: Major model SDKs with tool-calling, structured outputs, multi-step agents
  • Media: Video generation (Veo), voice synthesis (ElevenLabs), composite rendering (Shotstack), headless browser workflows

What This Role Is Not:

  • You won't own platform architecture or distributed systems—you'll focus on the AI Social pipeline specifically
  • You won't own social strategy, though you'll have meaningful input; final calls sit with product and content partners
  • This is a hands-on individual contributor role, not a management position
