Panama-Buena Vista Union School District is seeking a dedicated First Grade Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year in Bakersfield, Kern County. This full-time position at Mountain View TK-8 School offers an exciting opportunity to inspire young learners in a bilingual immersion environment, with availability beginning August 2026.

The Opportunity

Join a dynamic elementary teaching team where you'll guide first graders through foundational academic skills and cultural competencies in a dual language immersion setting. This role is ideal for educators passionate about bilingual education and creating inclusive learning spaces where students develop proficiency in two languages while mastering core academic content.

Your Responsibilities

• Deliver standards-aligned instruction in core academic subjects within a dual language immersion framework
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that reinforce literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking in both languages
• Create a supportive classroom environment where first graders feel confident taking linguistic and academic risks
• Assess student progress and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
• Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to support student growth and language development
• Participate in professional development and contribute to school-wide initiatives

Skills & Qualifications

• Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with BCLAD or BILA Authorization
• Strong command of the target language and English
• Experience teaching young learners in diverse, multicultural settings (preferred)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Demonstrated commitment to equity-focused, inclusive education
