Child Protective Services Caseworker

Join the Department of Health and Human Services in Rockland, Plymouth County, as a Child Protective Services Caseworker. This is a full-time position dedicated to protecting children and supporting families in crisis.

What This Role Involves

As a Child Protective Services Caseworker, you'll be at the forefront of child protection work, responding to reports of suspected abuse or neglect. You'll conduct thorough investigations, assess risk factors within families, and develop intervention strategies designed to keep children safe while preserving family connections whenever possible. This role requires compassion, sound judgment, and a commitment to advocating for vulnerable children and their families.

What You'll Do

• Investigate allegations of child abuse and neglect, gathering information from families, schools, healthcare providers, and other sources
• Assess family circumstances to determine child safety and risk factors
• Prepare comprehensive case documentation and reports for supervisory review and legal proceedings
• Develop individualized service plans focused on family stabilization and child protection
• Maintain ongoing contact with children, caregivers, and service providers to monitor progress and adjust interventions
• Collaborate with law enforcement, court personnel, treatment providers, and community resources
• Provide case management services that support family reunification or permanent placement when appropriate
• Testify in court proceedings when necessary to ensure child safety and legal accountability

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
• Ability to pass comprehensive background investigation and clearance requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while maintaining detailed, accurate documentation
• Emotional resilience and ability to manage high-stress situations
• Commitment to working with diverse populations and culturally responsive practices
• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or related field is preferred
