Engineering Project and QA Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential education technology organization that is seeking an Engineering Project and QA Manager to join their remote team. This role reports to the VP of Engineering and is crucial to keeping their learning platform organized, tested, and running smoothly for thousands of users.

Our client operates a set of applications spanning admissions, course delivery, grading, and reporting. As their platform grows, they need someone who works alongside engineers daily to keep projects moving, ensure quality through testing and bug management, and maintain clear communication across technical and non-technical teams.

Location: Remote (United States, Europe, Canada, or LATAM)

Responsibilities

• Keep engineering projects organized and moving forward by tracking work in flight, identifying blockers, and maintaining clarity on priorities
• Own quality assurance: test new features and functionality, leverage AI tools to automate repetitive testing tasks, and write Capybara tests where appropriate
• Manage the bug pipeline end-to-end: reproduce issues, prioritize effectively, route to the appropriate engineer, and verify fixes
• Serve as the daily connection point between engineers, product team, and internal stakeholders who use the platform
• Evaluate when to introduce process or rituals that add value while remaining mindful of overhead and friction
• Provide regular status reporting to keep the team and leadership informed on project progress

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in project management, delivery, or QA roles, ideally within a small engineering team environment
• Technical aptitude to work effectively with engineers: ability to reproduce bugs, read stack traces, and write test cases
• Hands-on QA experience owning testing and bug pipeline management, both manual and automated
• Comfort using AI tools to automate tasks previously done manually
• Strong judgment about when to add structure and when to keep things lightweight
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with collaborative working style
• Comfort operating in ambiguous, small-team environments without heavy process requirements
• Genuine passion for education and creating positive impact

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails or Django codebases
• Experience with Capybara, RSpec, or comparable testing frameworks
• Background collaborating with product managers and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience as a first project management or QA hire on a team

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $140,000 to $178,000 USD annually for US-based candidates. Compensation will be adjusted based on location for candidates in Canada, LATAM, and Europe. Final salary is determined by relevant experience and skills evaluated during the interview process.
