Engineering Manager, Navigation Incidents

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential geospatial technology organization seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their Navigation Incidents engineering function. This is a remote role based in Germany, reporting into a global platform that processes petabytes of real-time location data for enterprise customers worldwide.

You will manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams building sophisticated incident detection and validation systems. Your teams will work across high-scale backend services, data pipelines, and AI-driven workflows that power live road updates—from traffic disruptions to closures—ensuring millions of users receive optimal routing.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations for engineering teams building real-time incident lifecycle systems, including intelligent ingestion, validation, conflation, and delivery
• Drive complex, high-impact projects while providing technical mentorship and guidance to senior engineers
• Manage sprint planning, project execution, and operational best practices including on-call rotations
• Hire, retain, and develop engineering talent; build team capabilities through coaching and career development
• Establish and track operational metrics ensuring products meet or exceed customer expectations
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to shape long-term technical strategy and business outcomes
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, quality, and data-driven decision-making
• Champion engineering best practices across monitoring, testing, documentation, and code review processes
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align team work with company priorities

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical engineering experience
• 5+ years of people management experience leading remote engineering teams to measurable product and business outcomes
• Proven track record hiring diverse engineering talent and creating cultures of learning and growth
• Deep technical expertise building scalable web services and data pipelines in AWS environments
• Experience leading cross-functional teams of 5+ engineers
• Demonstrated ownership of technical vision, strategy development, and execution
• Strong customer focus with ability to translate user problems into innovative solutions
• Excellence in written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Passion for operational excellence: monitoring, metrics, issue triage, and continuous improvement
• Experience fostering end-to-end development practices including interface design, thorough testing, and effective code reviews

Valued:

• Thoughtful integration of AI tools into engineering workflows, design, and decision-making
• Experience with geospatial data systems or real-time data processing at scale
• Background in AI/ML agent workflows or algorithmic systems
