About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential research institution in France seeking a PhD candidate (Doctorant) to join their cutting-edge research program in embedded systems and artificial intelligence. This doctorate position is part of a nationally-funded research project focused on dynamic neural networks for assistive technology applications.

The research will take place within a prestigious laboratory specializing in information science and computer science, working alongside a team of approximately sixty research faculty and over one hundred doctoral and post-doctoral researchers. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to meaningful research that addresses real-world accessibility challenges while advancing the field of embedded systems engineering.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive literature review of formal languages and techniques for embedded systems modeling
• Design and develop a novel specification language to bridge engineering intent and implementation
• Create software tools including compiler and interpreter for the new language
• Apply and validate the language through practical case studies in assistive technology systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams across partner laboratories
• Contribute to project deliverables and publish research findings in peer-reviewed venues
• Participate in doctoral training activities and research seminars

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree (Bac+5) in Computer Science, or Engineering degree in Electronics with strong computer science background
• Strong technical expertise in programming languages and compiler design
• Knowledge of model-driven engineering approaches
• Familiarity with formal methods and specification languages is highly valued
• Autonomy and ability to work independently on complex research problems
• Scientific rigor and strong analytical skills
• Excellent synthesis and communication abilities
• Fluency in French required for integration within the research team
• Interest in embedded systems, artificial intelligence, and assistive technologies
