Director, Finance Decision Support

Sutter Health seeks a Director of Finance Decision Support to join our System Office in Sacramento, California. In this leadership position, you will serve as a strategic financial partner to Foundation Finance Officers across our health system, driving informed budget development and resource optimization.

About the Role

As Director of Finance Decision Support within Sutter Health System Office's Valley operations, you will establish a strong, consultative relationship with Foundation Finance Officers throughout the organization. You will combine analytical rigor with collaborative problem-solving to help each entity achieve its financial objectives while advancing system-wide priorities. This role bridges strategic financial planning with operational execution across our multi-entity health system.

What You'll Do

• Partner with Foundation Finance Officers to develop annual operating budget targets and frameworks
• Provide financial analysis, modeling, and recommendations to support budget establishment and refinement
• Identify and recommend cost optimization strategies when budget targets require adjustment
• Allocate monthly operating budget targets across local entities to reflect system priorities and individual entity financial capacity
• Prepare comprehensive financial forecasts, variance analyses, and performance benchmarking reports
• Facilitate cross-functional financial planning meetings and drive accountability for budget outcomes
• Monitor ongoing budget-to-actual performance and deliver strategic financial insights to system leadership
• Support financial decision-making with data-driven analysis and scenario planning

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or healthcare finance credential preferred
• 8+ years of progressive healthcare finance experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, scenario modeling, and decision support
• Advanced proficiency with Excel, financial modeling tools, and accounting systems
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities; capacity to translate complex financial information for varied audiences
• Strategic mindset paired with strong analytical and attention to detail
• Experience in multi-entity healthcare organizations
• Full-time availability for this Sacramento-based position
