GFL Environmental is hiring a full-time Diesel Mechanic-B Tech for our Carolina Beach facility in New Hanover County. This evening-shift position offers competitive pay plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus. Join our team and maintain modern fleet equipment in a structured, professional environment.
About the Role
As a Diesel Mechanic-B Tech on our 2nd shift (12:00 PM – 11:30 PM), you'll be critical to keeping our fleet operational and road-ready. Working under shop management guidance, you'll handle both routine maintenance and complex repairs on diesel and CNG-powered vehicles. Your technical expertise directly supports our environmental solutions mission and customer service commitments.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines and CNG vehicle systems using industry-standard tools
- Perform preventive maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid service
- Replace worn components and mechanical parts to maintain fleet reliability
- Complete safety inspections and identify potential issues before they escalate
- Document all maintenance records and repairs with accuracy and detail
- Follow safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards consistently
- Partner with shop leadership on repair prioritization and fleet continuity
What We're Looking For
- B-Tech certification or equivalent diesel technician qualification
- Proven hands-on experience with diesel engine repair and heavy-duty fleet maintenance
- Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and mechanical tools
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to consistently work the 2nd shift schedule (12:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
- Dedication to safety and high-quality workmanship
- Reliable on-site availability in Carolina Beach, New Hanover County
