About the Role

GFL Environmental is seeking a full-time Preventative Maintenance Diesel Mechanic to join our operations team in New Lexington. In this hands-on position, you'll be responsible for keeping our fleet in peak operating condition through proactive maintenance, systematic inspections, and expert diagnostics. You'll work a rotating schedule of either 10am–6pm or 11am–7pm, ensuring our vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable, and ready to serve our customers every single day.

What You'll Do

• Monitor vehicle condition and equipment status to identify maintenance needs before they become costly problems
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and belt inspections
• Conduct systematic vehicle and equipment inspections following company and safety standards
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and your technical expertise
• Complete maintenance records and document all work performed for fleet tracking and compliance
• Collaborate with operations and management to prioritize maintenance and minimize downtime
• Maintain a clean, organized shop environment and follow all OSHA and company safety protocols

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or preventive maintenance technician
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrains, hydraulics, and related systems
• Ability to read schematics, use diagnostic equipment, and document work accurately
• Commitment to safety and a track record of following procedures and best practices
• Reliable transportation to New Lexington and willingness to work assigned schedules
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
