About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential observability platform client seeking a Developer Advocate with deep service management expertise. Our talent team is looking for an experienced engineer who can bridge technical knowledge and storytelling to help practitioner communities solve real-world operational challenges. This is a remote position open to candidates anywhere in the world, with a focus on EMEA engagement.
In this role, you'll work at the intersection of engineering and education, creating content that shapes how SRE, DevOps, and operations teams approach incident response, on-call practices, and operational automation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert for service management topics including incident response, on-call management, internal developer portals, workflow automation, and operational tooling
- Create technical content across multiple formats: demos, conference talks, blog posts, documentation, webinars, research reports, and open source contributions
- Collaborate with product engineering teams to develop compelling demonstrations and coach engineers on effective technical communication
- Engage with open source communities to develop integrations and drive key technical messaging
- Provide product feedback through bug reports, enhancement suggestions, documentation improvements, and code contributions
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience as a Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Software Developer with hands-on production operations experience
- Proven experience as an on-call responder and incident manager in complex IT environments
- Strong understanding of core service management practices: incident response, on-call rotations, post-incident reviews, and SLOs
- Hands-on experience with service management and incident response platforms
- 2+ years of experience creating technical content and public storytelling through writing, conference speaking (SREcon, DevOpsDays, SREday), workshops, live streaming, video content, or open source contributions
- Publicly available portfolio of technical writing samples, blog posts, demos, or presentation recordings
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Node.js, Python, Go, bash)
- Familiarity with APIs, IaaS cloud services, and containerized infrastructure
- Passion for self-directed learning and exploring new technologies
Bonus qualifications:
- ITSM platform experience (ServiceNow, Jira Service Management)
- Active participation in SRE, DevOps, or incident-response communities
