Credit Control Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing B Corp-certified professional services organization in the UK that provides company formation and compliance solutions to entrepreneurs. Our client is experiencing significant growth and needs an experienced Credit Control Manager to build and lead their collections function for a subscription-based accounting service offering.

This is a standalone, hands-on role based in Covent Garden with hybrid working. You will have considerable autonomy to design and implement the entire credit control process from the ground up, then manage day-to-day collections as the service scales.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, and own the end-to-end credit control and collections process for recurring contractual payments
• Establish collections timetables and contact strategies for missed and failed payments, including escalation protocols
• Create and continuously refine customer communications including email templates, reminders, and telephone scripts
• Personally manage high-volume collections activity across customer accounts via telephone and email
• Handle objections and difficult conversations confidently, including explaining contractual payment commitments
• Identify genuine billing or service issues and collaborate with accounting, onboarding, customer service, and finance teams to resolve them
• Establish clear escalation routes for unresolved arrears and recommend next-stage recovery actions
• Maintain accurate records and provide management reporting on arrears, recovery rates, failed payments, and non-payment reasons
• Identify opportunities to improve payment recovery through enhanced communications, processes, automation, and payment-retry workflows

What We're Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience in credit control, collections, or recurring payment recovery, ideally within subscription, professional services, or high-volume customer environments
• Proven ability to create, redesign, or materially improve collections processes rather than simply inherit existing ones
• Comfortable working independently with full ownership of both strategy and day-to-day collections activity
• Confident and effective telephone communicator who can handle objections, complaints, and difficult payment conversations
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to create clear, professional, and effective customer messaging
• Firm, persistent, and commercially minded approach while maintaining professionalism with customers
• Highly organized with the ability to manage large volumes of accounts, follow-ups, and escalation actions
• Comfortable using finance, CRM, or payment systems and Excel/Google Sheets for tracking and reporting
• Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial services is useful but not essential
• CICM qualification or progress toward one is welcome but not required
