About the Role

As a Licensed ESS Teacher in the Cortez school district, you'll provide specialized instruction and support to students with identified exceptional needs. Working within our inclusive school environment, you'll collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff to ensure every student receives the individualized services and accommodations outlined in their Individualized Education Program (IEP). This district-wide position may involve working across multiple school sites in the Montezuma Cortez system.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver direct ESS instruction tailored to students' identified exceptional needs and IEP goals
  • Assess student progress, monitor academic and behavioral growth, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and support successful inclusion in general education settings
  • Develop and implement evidence-based interventions that address students' specific learning profiles
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress, strengths, and areas for continued growth
  • Maintain detailed documentation and contribute to IEP development and review processes
  • Model best practices in differentiated instruction and positive behavior support

What We're Looking For

  • Valid Colorado teaching license in Exceptional Student Services or equivalent
