Join Harley Ellis Devereaux as Corporate Legal Counsel in Royal Oak, Oakland County, where you'll serve as the primary in-house legal advisor for our nationwide organization. About the Role

As Corporate Legal Counsel, you'll be the trusted legal voice for our executive leadership and board of directors. You'll drive corporate legal strategy while managing the full spectrum of legal matters—from routine contract administration to complex regulatory challenges—always upholding the highest standards of professional judgment and ethical practice.

What You'll Do

• Provide strategic legal guidance on corporate governance, transactions, and business decisions
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and commercial agreements across all departments
• Ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements
• Oversee litigation matters and manage relationships with external counsel
• Advise leadership on employment law, intellectual property, and risk mitigation strategies
• Support corporate transactions, strategic initiatives, and M&A activities
• Maintain corporate compliance documentation and board governance matters
• Develop preventive legal strategies and identify emerging regulatory risks

What We're Looking For

• J.D. degree and active Michigan bar license
• 5+ years of experience in corporate law or in-house legal counsel role
• Demonstrated expertise in contract law, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance
• Clear communicator who translates complex legal concepts for business audiences
• Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Business acumen and collaborative approach to working with executives
• Commitment to professional ethics and uncompromising integrity
