Controls Project Engineer III

Vanderlande is hiring a Controls Project Engineer III in Pune I for a full-time position. This role offers the opportunity to drive technical excellence in automation systems design and implementation within our growing engineering team.

About the Role

As a Controls Project Engineer III, you'll take ownership of complex automation and control system projects from conception through deployment. This is a senior individual contributor and leadership track role where you'll influence project strategy, mentor junior engineers, and ensure technical solutions align with client requirements and company standards. You'll work across multiple projects simultaneously, balancing hands-on technical work with strategic oversight.

Core Duties

• Design, develop, and optimise control systems and automation architectures for material handling and logistics solutions
• Lead technical requirements gathering, system design documentation, and project delivery planning with cross-functional teams
• Oversee commissioning, testing, and deployment of control systems at customer facilities
• Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot complex system issues, and drive continuous improvement in engineering practices
• Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing
• Collaborate with product, procurement, and operations teams to ensure project success and customer satisfaction
• Maintain detailed project documentation, technical specifications, and system records

Who We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or equivalent field experience
• 7+ years of professional experience in control systems engineering, industrial automation, or related technical roles
• Demonstrated expertise with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and real-time control programming
• Strong command of automation programming languages and protocols (e.g., ladder logic, structured text, industrial networking)
• Proven track record delivering large-scale technical projects on time and within budget
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and experience leading cross-functional technical teams
• Clear communication skills in English; additional language skills valued
• Willingness to travel occasionally for project commissioning and customer engagement
