About This Opportunity
We are representing a contract research organization specializing in clinical trials. Our talent team is seeking a Clinical Operations Manager based in Spain to lead and develop clinical monitoring teams while ensuring high-quality study execution across multiple projects.
In this full-time, permanent role, you will oversee Clinical Research Associates and support personnel, manage performance and training, allocate resources strategically, and drive operational excellence through quality monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of permanent and contracted clinical operations staff, including CRAs and support personnel
- Ensure clinical monitoring activities meet sponsor expectations with timely, quality deliverables within budget and in compliance with SOPs, regulations, and good clinical practices
- Oversee direct reports' performance, conduct evaluations, and implement professional development plans
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to Clinical Operations personnel; ensure consistent use of study tools and materials
- Track Clinical Operations metrics including site visits, utilization rates, and deliverable timeliness (site visit reports, follow-up letters, timesheets)
- Monitor monitoring expenses for policy compliance and guideline adherence
- Conduct Quality Assessment Visits (QAV) with CRAs
- Identify quality issues through project meetings, communications, visit reports, and audit findings; develop and implement corrective action plans
- Serve as management contact for sites, project teams, and sponsors when escalation is required
- Drive innovation by identifying workflow optimization opportunities and supporting adoption of emerging technologies and AI-enabled solutions
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and proactive problem-solving
- Support recruitment efforts by assessing and interviewing Clinical Operations candidates
- May conduct on-site or remote monitoring visits, perform site visit report reviews, and contribute to Clinical Operations plans and tools
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience managing clinical operations teams in a CRO or pharmaceutical environment
- Strong knowledge of clinical trial monitoring, good clinical practices, and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated ability to oversee performance, develop staff, and implement training programs
- Experience tracking operational metrics and ensuring quality deliverables
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify process improvements and drive innovation in clinical operations
- Experience conducting quality assessments and implementing corrective actions
- Must have authorization to work in Spain
