Civil Engineer – Land Development

Position Summary

Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineer specializing in Land Development to support the design and planning of master-planned communities, mixed-use developments, parks, and recreation facilities across Iowa. In this role, you'll work on projects that transform urban downtowns, suburban hubs, small towns, and rural areas into vibrant economic centers, resilient neighborhoods, and welcoming places. You'll contribute technical expertise in site design, infrastructure planning, and civil engineering standards to deliver projects that strengthen communities and enhance quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review civil engineering designs for land development projects, including site layouts, grading, drainage, and utility coordination
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to support project planning and decision-making
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, landscape designers, planners, and municipal stakeholders
• Develop technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents in compliance with applicable codes and standards
• Participate in project meetings, client presentations, and design reviews
• Support permit applications and coordination with regulatory agencies

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, site design, and infrastructure systems
• Proficiency with CAD software and engineering design tools
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
• Experience in land development, site engineering, or related project types is valued
