Senior Project Architect, Healthcare

Stantec is seeking a Senior Project Architect specializing in Healthcare to join our Buildings team at our William Penn Annex East office in Philadelphia County. This full-time role represents an exceptional opportunity to lead the design and delivery of transformative healthcare facilities for organizations nationwide, bringing architectural excellence to patient care environments and medical infrastructure.

About the Role

In this senior leadership position, you will architect solutions for complex healthcare projects, directing a multidisciplinary team of engineers, interior designers, sustainability experts, and design technologists. You'll be responsible for translating client vision into designs that balance clinical functionality, patient experience, regulatory compliance, and long-term operational sustainability. Your strategic oversight will ensure every project advances both our clients' missions and the field of healthcare design.

What You'll Do

• Direct the design development and architectural strategy for healthcare facilities from inception through handover
• Lead client engagements, manage stakeholder expectations, and navigate regulatory approval processes
• Supervise multidisciplinary teams and provide mentorship to mid-level and junior architects
• Establish design standards that comply with healthcare building codes, infection prevention protocols, and ADA accessibility requirements
• Oversee design documentation, specification writing, and construction phase administration
• Drive sustainable and resilient design initiatives across all project phases
• Identify and pursue healthcare sector growth opportunities and strategic initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Licensed architect with 10+ years of progressive experience, with substantial healthcare sector work
• Proven track record leading the design of hospitals, medical centers, specialty clinics, or research facilities
• Expert-level knowledge of healthcare building codes, infection control design requirements, and related standards
• Proficiency with BIM platforms, design software, and modern project delivery methods
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and manage complex stakeholder relationships
• Strong portfolio showing completed healthcare projects of scale and complexity
• Commitment to sustainable design and integrated, collaborative practice methodologies
