Graduate Nurse – Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit

Role Overview

As a Graduate Nurse in our Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit, you'll provide direct patient care to children requiring intermediate-level medical support. This role serves as your gateway into professional nursing practice, pairing you with experienced preceptors who'll guide your transition from student to practiced clinician. You'll work varied hours across our acute care pediatric unit, contributing to a team dedicated to compassionate, family-centered care for young patients.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess pediatric patients' vital signs, physical condition, and clinical status throughout your shifts
• Document patient care, observations, and interventions accurately in our electronic health record system
• Administer medications and treatments under supervision while building independence under preceptor guidance
• Communicate with patients and families to provide support, education, and reassurance during their care
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, quality care
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient environment while adhering to infection prevention and safety protocols
• Support the unit's commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous clinical improvement

Skills & Qualifications

• Current or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
• Completion of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain within your start date)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for working with pediatric patients and families
• Ability to work varied shifts, including potential evenings, nights, and weekends
• Compassion, patience, and cultural sensitivity in providing care to diverse pediatric populations
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and clinical learning
