About the Role
As a CDL-A company driver with U.S. Xpress, you'll operate a commercial truck across the country, transporting freight via dry van trailers on dedicated OTR routes. This position requires extended time away from home, with the flexibility to select home time that works for your lifestyle. Whether you prefer solo driving or team operations, U.S. Xpress has opportunities for both.
What You'll Do
- Operate a commercial truck safely and professionally across interstate highways
- Transport dry van freight to destinations throughout the United States
- Complete vehicle pre-trip inspections and maintain detailed driving logs
- Ensure timely, professional deliveries while adhering to all DOT regulations
- Drive approximately 2,000 miles per week as a solo operator, or up to 5,000 miles weekly as a team driver
What We're Looking For
- Valid CDL-A license with 1 to 5 months of professional trucking experience
- Clean driving record and ability to pass background and medical screenings
- Genuine commitment to safety and DOT compliance
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
- Mechanical understanding and readiness to follow company procedures
Competitive Compensation & Benefits
U.S. Xpress offers strong earning potential for OTR drivers. Solo drivers earn 54–60 cents per mile based on experience, with top earners making $1,565 per week. Team drivers begin at $0.72–$0.80 per mile (split). All new hires receive a sign-on bonus: $2,000 for solo drivers or $5,000 for team positions. Don't have a co-driver yet?
