Role Overview

As a 7P Patient Care Assistant - Cardiology/Telemetry with SEH at SE Health Hospital, you become an essential partner to the nursing team. You help maintain continuous observation and comfort for individuals recovering from heart-related conditions while ensuring daily needs are met in a focused inpatient setting. The work centers on practical support that keeps the unit running smoothly and patients safe.

What You'll Do

• Provide hands-on assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding so patients remain comfortable and clean
• Obtain and chart vital signs at assigned intervals and alert nurses to any notable changes
• Observe telemetry monitors, recognize basic rhythm irregularities, and immediately communicate findings to the care team
• Help patients move safely between bed, chair, and stretchers while protecting IV lines and monitoring leads
• Change linens, tidy rooms, empty drainage devices, and keep the unit environment free of clutter
• Record intake, output, and care activities accurately in the electronic system
• Answer call lights promptly and escort patients for tests or procedures when required

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Prior experience or formal training as a patient care assistant, nursing assistant, or similar caregiver role
• Ability to perform standard hygiene, mobility, and vital-sign tasks with accuracy and compassion
• Comfort observing basic cardiac telemetry data and escalating concerns without delay
• Strong verbal communication skills for clear hand-offs with nurses and physicians
• Physical stamina to assist with frequent positioning, transfers, and standing for extended periods
• Reliability, empathy, and respect for patient privacy in a busy cardiac setting
