About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential custom software development firm with operations across Canada. Our talent team is seeking a Business Development Director who thrives on opening new accounts and building meaningful client relationships in the technology services space.

This is a true hunter role. You will proactively develop pipeline, qualify complex business needs, and guide organizations toward tailored software solutions. Every engagement is consultative, with sales cycles spanning several months and involving multiple stakeholders at executive and technical levels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop pipeline through targeted prospecting, networking, industry events, and referral cultivation
  • Qualify business needs behind initial requests and assess alignment with technical capabilities
  • Collaborate with technical teams to develop compelling service proposals and own final validation
  • Represent the organization with decision-makers including VPs of IT, VPs of Product, CIOs, and Directors of Digital Transformation
  • Work closely with marketing to build the sales funnel without relying solely on inbound leads
  • Ensure smooth transitions to delivery and account management while staying involved in account growth
  • Advise clients on custom software development, product strategy, technical architecture, and AI integration options

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience developing new accounts in technology professional services, custom software development, consulting, or complex B2B solutions
  • Genuine hunter mindset with the ability to create conversations where no active demand exists
  • Strong consultative selling skills for long sales cycles with multiple decision-makers and tailored proposals
  • Judgment to discuss modernization, technical debt, architecture, and project scoping credibly with technical and business stakeholders
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken; French is an important asset in a pan-Canadian context
  • Autonomy and discipline to manage territory, maintain rigorous pipeline, and coordinate cross-functional resources effectively
  • Thoughtful use of AI tools to improve research, preparation, follow-ups, and sales effectiveness
  • Resourcefulness and ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to meet clients as business needs require
  • Active network in financial services, insurance, manufacturing, defence, or aerospace is an asset
  • Experience with CRM platforms such as HubSpot or Salesforce
