Billing & Follow-Up Specialist

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential telehealth organization seeking a Billing & Follow-Up Specialist to join a newly formed revenue cycle department. This is a remote role open to candidates across the USA, with occasional travel for team collaboration.

You'll play a critical role in building billing and collection processes from the ground up, working directly with insurance payers to maximize reimbursement and resolve claim issues efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Review and prioritize follow-up activities requiring claim edits or general payer follow-up
• Research claim denial issues and resolve them in a timely manner to release claims to payers
• Contact insurance companies to understand delays in processing claims or sending payments and identify next steps to resolve them
• Investigate payment variance situations to understand root cause and resolution paths
• Capture follow-up activities with clear, descriptive notes within workflow applications
• Support transition of claims to other staff for denial and cash posting tasks as needed
• Prioritize and drive issue resolution with partnering departments such as Credentialing or Customer Success
• Identify trends in payer behavior and surface them for leadership review

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 4 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, specifically in billing and follow-up functions with insurance companies on behalf of providers
• Solid understanding of the claim submission process and common pain points that delay payer acceptance and processing
• Understanding of cash posting and reconciliation processes and common payment processing delays
• Exposure to clinicians providing mental health and/or telehealth services is highly preferred
• Comfortable with ambiguity and eager to help build strong operational processes for a new department
• Thrives in environments with open feedback, high autonomy, and opportunities for growth
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working across teams

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $33.00/hr – $38.46/hr, plus performance bonus eligibility and comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, 401k with employer match, and wellness programs.
