Automated Testing Module Lead

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential aerospace organization in their search for an Automated Testing Module Lead based in Paris. This is a senior technical leadership position focused on transforming how complex autonomous systems are validated through simulation and scenario-based testing.

Our client is building next-generation defense systems and needs an experienced leader to establish a comprehensive testing framework that can validate software against edge cases, degraded conditions, and contested environments—scenarios that are difficult and expensive to test with physical hardware alone.

Responsibilities

• Lead and structure an existing team of four engineers across distributed European locations, with plans to scale to approximately eight engineers by mid-2027
• Design and implement a versioned scenario library covering nominal, edge-case, off-nominal, and contested flight conditions, expanding into Monte Carlo and multi-agent testing
• Define execution strategy across Software-in-the-Loop (SITL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL), and continuous integration environments, including gating policies and coverage analytics
• Establish and maintain technical boundaries with platform engineering teams and validation teams, defining clear ownership and responsibility splits
• Correlate simulation models against real flight data to measure and close sim-to-real gaps, ensuring test results accurately predict real-world performance
• Build telemetry capture, deterministic replay capabilities, and test infrastructure that catches defects before they reach physical systems

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of experience in automated testing, simulation-based validation, or test engineering for complex physical or hardware-in-the-loop systems (autonomous vehicles, aerospace, defense, or robotics)
• Proven scenario design expertise: hands-on experience building scenario-based test suites on simulation platforms with coverage strategies that genuinely catch defects—this is the critical capability gap you will fill
• Technical proficiency in Python, C++, Linux, Docker, and CI environments, with deep domain knowledge in SITL/HITL execution and simulation tooling
• Leadership experience: demonstrated ability to step into existing engineering teams, establish clarity, and effectively manage distributed engineers, including those with more years of experience
• Validation mindset: rigorous, analytical approach to noisy physical metrics, false positives, and flaky test environments
• Cross-functional skills: track record of defining and holding clear technical interfaces with platform providers and internal stakeholders
• Working-level English required; willingness to travel between Paris and Lausanne offices
• Bonus: background in defense/aerospace flight software, control systems, or experience closing sim-to-real fidelity gaps
