AutoCAD Drafter (Entry Level)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential construction services organization seeking an AutoCAD Drafter (Entry Level) to join their pre-construction team on a remote basis. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of construction projects—from initial concept sketches through field installation—while building critical technical drafting and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed shop drawings, layouts, and multi-view drafts using AutoCAD or similar CAD software
• Convert sketches, hand-drawn concepts, and architectural notes into precise digital drawings
• Ensure all designs comply with fabrication limitations, construction standards, and project specifications
• Maintain and continuously update the AutoCAD block library
• Assist with estimating, plan takeoffs, bid preparation, and other pre-construction deliverables
• Produce comprehensive planning reports and visual materials for client presentations
• Record and track daily and weekly project progress for internal monitoring and reporting
• Collaborate with project managers, field installers, and shop personnel to confirm field conditions and clarify design requirements
• Provide ongoing support to field teams during installation and fabrication stages
• Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications to verify accuracy and buildability
• Monitor, evaluate, and recommend improvements to project layouts as needed

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field
• Minimum 3 years of recent AutoCAD experience
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and architectural sketches
• Good mathematical and analytical skills, especially for computing dimensions and drawing contours
• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously
• Excellent time management and a proactive, self-starting attitude
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with cross-functional teams

Preferred:

• Proficiency with ZWCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Photoshop
• Experience in sheet metal drafting or coordination
• Background in specialized fabrication projects
• Experience providing documentation or support during field installation phases
• Basic technical writing experience (reports, research summaries, business documentation)
• Creative eye for visuals and ability to produce presentation-ready outputs
