Associate Scientific Director, Medical Communications

We are representing a confidential medical communications organization seeking an Associate Scientific Director to join their high-performing team. Responsibilities

• Ensure all deliverables are evidence-based, strategically aligned, and executed with the highest level of scientific accuracy and editorial excellence
• Partner with senior leadership and account teams to translate client objectives into impactful scientific content and programs
• Guide and mentor medical writers while overseeing the quality-control process across projects
• Engage directly with clients, authors, and key opinion leaders to shape scientific narratives
• Contribute to content development, regulatory review processes, and advisory board planning
• Support strategic planning initiatives and identify opportunities for innovation and business growth
• Manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
• Stay current with emerging research, competitive landscapes, and therapeutic advancements
• Present scientific perspectives confidently to clients and internal stakeholders

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced life sciences degree (MD, PhD, or PharmD)
• 2–3+ years of experience within a medical communications agency
• Demonstrated expertise in medical/scientific writing and content development
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and timelines effectively
• Experience collaborating with clients, key opinion leaders, and cross-functional teams
• Strong leadership instincts and ability to elevate team output
• Detail-oriented approach with commitment to scientific accuracy

Helpful Experience:

• Prior experience mentoring or managing medical writers
• Exposure to regulatory review processes and advisory board development
• Familiarity with competitive intelligence and therapeutic landscape analysis
• Experience supporting new business development or client growth initiatives

Pay

Our client has indicated a compensation range of $110,000–$140,000 USD for this role. Actual compensation will depend on your specific qualifications, experience, and location. This position is also eligible for discretionary annual bonus, comprehensive health insurance, retirement savings benefits, life and disability insurance, parental leave, and paid time off.
