Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Lexington, Fayette County seeks a full-time Associate/Assistant Rector for Engagement to lead spiritual growth, pastoral care, and community connection within our vibrant parish.
About the Role
In this position, you will serve as a key member of our clergy team, focusing on programs and initiatives that deepen spiritual connection among our parishioners. You'll work to embody our parish motto—Love is all—by helping congregants grow spiritually and connect more meaningfully. Drawing on the love-ethic central to the Sermon on the Mount, you will provide pastoral accompaniment and help translate our faith commitments into lived community action.
What You'll Do
- Develop and lead engagement programming that strengthens parishioner spiritual life and community bonds
- Offer pastoral care, spiritual direction, and counseling to members
- Share in worship leadership and help facilitate meaningful liturgical experiences
- Support the cultivation of contemplative and prayer practices within the congregation
- Partner with lay leaders and clergy to expand parish outreach and service ministries
- Model and encourage embodiment of Gospel values in community relationships and witness
What We're Looking For
- Ordained or ordained-eligible clergy within the Episcopal tradition
- Demonstrated calling to pastoral ministry and community engagement work
- Ability to teach and preach Scripture with clarity and spiritual depth
- Skilled leadership and program development experience
- Track record of building authentic relationships and engaging people from different backgrounds
- Commitment to both traditional liturgical practice and contemplative spirituality
