Adjunct Assistant Professor – Economics

Farmingdale State College invites qualified economics educators to join our faculty as adjunct instructors for our Economics Department in Farmingdale, Nassau County. This part-time teaching position offers the opportunity to deliver engaging coursework and mentor students in economics and related disciplines.

About the Role

The Economics Department periodically seeks adjunct assistant professors to teach undergraduate economics courses on a part-time basis. You will have the flexibility to teach one or two courses per term, contributing to our diverse course offerings while maintaining a sustainable teaching load.

What You'll Do

• Develop and deliver course curriculum aligned with departmental standards and institutional learning outcomes
• Conduct lectures, seminars, and discussions that foster critical thinking in economic theory and application
• Design and grade assignments, exams, and assessments that accurately measure student comprehension
• Provide office hours and academic support to help students succeed in their coursework
• Participate in departmental meetings and collaborative initiatives as scheduled
• Maintain detailed records of student attendance, performance, and progress

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree in Economics or a closely related field; PhD preferred
• Demonstrated expertise and scholarly foundation in economics coursework
• Proven ability to communicate complex economic concepts to undergraduate students
• Commitment to student learning outcomes and inclusive pedagogical practices
• Professional experience or academic background relevant to economics instruction
