26-27 Music Teacher (grades 5,6)

About the Role

You'll teach music to fifth and sixth grade students, building foundational skills, musical appreciation, and confidence through performance and ensemble work. This full-time position is based at our Lincoln campus and offers the opportunity to design engaging, standards-aligned instruction that meets students where they are.

What You'll Do

• Develop and deliver music curricula aligned with state standards for grades 5–6
• Teach music fundamentals, including rhythm, melody, harmony, and music history
• Lead rehearsals and direct student performances and concerts
• Facilitate group and ensemble activities to build collaboration and musicianship
• Assess student progress and adjust instruction to support growth
• Partner with colleagues to integrate music into broader school initiatives
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel welcome to explore music

What We're Looking For

• Valid Rhode Island teaching certification in Music or equivalent
• Experience teaching music to middle grades students
• Strong knowledge of music pedagogy and age-appropriate instructional strategies
• Ability to conduct rehearsals and direct ensemble performances
• Commitment to equity and fostering a diverse, inclusive learning community
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Passion for helping all students develop musical confidence and lifelong appreciation for music
