What You'll Do

• Perform complete quantity takeoffs for excavation, embankment, grading, pavement, and related roadway items directly from drawings and specifications.
• Interpret geotechnical reports, cross-sections, and site photographs to establish accurate unit costs for earthwork and drainage components.
• Gather current pricing from suppliers, equipment vendors, and specialty subcontractors while reconciling quotes against scope of work.
• Build and update detailed estimate spreadsheets using industry-standard software, tracking labor, material, equipment, and indirect costs.
• Participate in pre-bid site visits, risk workshops, and pricing reviews to surface constructability issues early.
• Document estimate assumptions, prepare bid tabs, and support final go/no-go discussions with senior estimators and project leads.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience producing estimates focused on roadway construction and earthwork operations.
• Solid command of civil construction means and methods, including heavy equipment productivity and material handling.
• Ability to read and extract data from complex engineering drawings, profiles, and utilities plans.
• Familiarity with common estimating platforms and proficiency in Microsoft Excel for cost modeling.
• Strong numerical aptitude, attention to detail, and skill in organizing large volumes of bid data under deadline pressure.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with multidisciplinary internal teams.
• Background in construction management, civil engineering, or equivalent practical experience that supports independent estimating judgment.
