Managing Consultant/Associate Director – Healthcare Strategy & Innovation

Guidehouse seeks a Managing Consultant or Associate Director specializing in Healthcare Strategy & Innovation to join our growing practice across the United States. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead transformational advisory engagements with major healthcare payers and providers while building and mentoring a high-performing consulting team.

About the Role

You'll take on a dual mandate: deliver sophisticated strategic counsel to C-suite healthcare executives navigating industry disruption, and develop the next generation of strategy consultants within our firm. Whether you join at the Managing Consultant level with 5+ years of healthcare advisory experience or as an Associate Director with 7+ years, your core mission is the same—guide clients through complex business model transformation, competitive repositioning, and innovation initiatives while coaching junior colleagues through apprenticeship-based learning. This is a role where client-facing strategy work and internal talent cultivation are equally valued. You'll maintain regular travel (up to 75%) to client sites, partner offices, and industry forums.

Core Duties

• Lead end-to-end strategy projects: from diagnostic business reviews through implementation planning and roadmap execution
• Conduct advanced financial analysis, scenario modeling, and competitive intelligence to inform client decision-making
• Manage multiple concurrent client relationships, ensuring superior delivery and client satisfaction
• Build and nurture teams of consultants; provide coaching, structured feedback, and deliberate skill-building opportunities
• Identify business development opportunities and support pursuit of new healthcare clients
• Synthesize data using analytics platforms (PowerBI, Tableau, Alteryx) and financial modeling tools

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree (MBA or MHA highly preferred; MHA strongly considered)
• 5+ years (Managing Consultant) or 7+ years (Associate Director) in strategy consulting, ideally within top-tier or specialized consulting firms
• Proven track record in healthcare payer or provider strategy consulting
• Demonstrated proficiency with business case development, financial modeling, and quantitative analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present complex findings to executives
• Technical fluency with PowerBI, Tableau, and/or Alteryx
• Leadership capability: managing cross-functional teams and steering multiple complex projects simultaneously
• Self-motivated problem-solver with entrepreneurial mindset and relentless focus on client value
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% as project work demands
• Preferred: experience in AI, cloud infrastructure, or machine learning applications in healthcare; active engagement in healthcare industry associations
